pretty moments & impressionism

Rose gardens apparently grow crazy well in California, but I didn't understand the extent of how well until a few days ago when I visited my first one. There were roses of every color, and all of them exquisitely beautiful. I couldn't help but run through the rows of flowers, in a cloud of fragrant dizziness, and in a state of awe and giddiness.

Anyways, I wore a light blue button-down tucked into a high-waisted nylon tricot skirt. I've always liked feminizing male clothing; I think the softening of the typically masculine qualities, such as the strong frame from accentuated shoulders and cuffs, gives a pretty feminine look a touch of structure.

button-down: urban outfitters
skirt: american apparel
flats: coach
scarf: vintage

So before moving here, my experience of rose gardens had been limited to Impressionist paintings, one of which I'll share with you. I adore Impressionism and the concepts behind it, an entire movement perfecting the artistic distillation of ephemeral and transient moments into permanence.

The weekend is here! I want to visit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art either this weekend or the next. Mmmhmm.
